5k!

Well, I did it! Not in an official race, but Linfield College has a great bark path around a pretty field, right next to Albertson's. Two laps around that puppy and you've ran a 5k. I woke up from my nap this afternoon full of motivation; at our Weight Watchers meeting this morning, several people got 5k charms for having walked or ran a 5k and my thought was, "I can do that, darn it!" Of course, not one to do anything half way, I wanted to run the ENTIRE THING.

So I did. In 30 minutes.

Not figuring in the fact that this is the first day we've had sunny weather in WEEKS. According to our digital thermometer, it's 79 degrees...in the shade. I thought I was going to die for the last 1/4 of the run. But I managed to run the ENTIRE THING. Afterwards, I walked into Albertsons, bought some water, and stood in the freezer section for a while. Go ahead, you can laugh at me.

The other mildly comical, mildly annoying aspect was that there were several parts of the path that were muddy, forcing me to skirt the path into the grass a bit. I've been known to have some pretty extreme rash reactions when tall grass hits my sweaty legs, and this time is no exception. Either that, or I had a run-in (literally) with some poison oak/ivy, since I wasn't keeping an eye out for it. Bummer. :( Thankfully, Nathan's mom gave us a great first aid kit that she put together herself, and included in that kit is a Benadryl Itch Relief Stick. I have a feeling it's going to be my best friend for the next few days!

I haven't updated you guys on my weight loss journey lately, mostly because I've been so focused on getting solo at work that my weight loss has kind of been on the back burner. But now I'm focused and ready to go! This last week, I tracked ALL of my points, and after a three week plateau of staying at the exact same weight, I lost 1.4 lbs! Here's the stats:

Starting weight: 174.4
This week's loss: 1.4 lbs
Current weight: 131.4 lbs
Total loss: 43 lbs
Left to goal: 3.4 lbs!

So hopefully I'll be reaching goal in the next week or two! I'm determined! And you better believe I'll be asking for that 5k charm at my next WW meeting!

And now I have two children who just woke up from naps and are squawking for lunch!

Hey, I put together the first aid kit (mom and Diane just contributed money towards it)! I figured with little boys in the house you'd need one. I also realized you needed on when we were in Baker and Nathan burned himself making beer and there was no burn cream to be found! :-)

Regardless, I'm glad you have a use for it and it is helping your rash. Congrats on the 5k!

Oh yeah, ha ha! Sorry!!! Needless to say, that time period is a little fuzzy. You did an awesome job, by far one of the most helpful first aid kits ever! And the good news is that it wasn't poison oak or ivy, just the grass. The benedryl kicked the rash within a couple of hours, and now it's all gone!

Thank goodness it wasn't a poisonous rash, that would have been the WORST!

I'm glad the kit was useful, and I hope the boys DON'T need all the kiddo stuff in it (but boys will be boys...). :-)
